What We Do
Meaningful Work
Emergency Relief
“(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: ‘We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.’” – The Holy Quran, 76:8-9
With millions of people around the world starving and malnourished, Ummah Relief Aid Food Appeal aims to provide vital, nutritious, and life-saving food to vulnerable communities living in unthinkable poverty. Our food parcels are packed with nutritious foods that will last a month and keep a family healthy and nourished.
Water pump construction and repair
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“The best charity is giving water to drink”
Water is a fundamental human right, yet 785 million people across the globe lack the access to a basic water source. in some parts of the world families and children are forced to walk miles each day in the search of water.
By providing safe clean water you are giving families and children a fighting chance to succeed and break through the cycle of poverty. You are giving the beautiful gift of sustenance enabling them to improve their standards of living and their livelihoods. Clean water can help a family grow Crops, feed their animals and stay healthy.
No donation is too big or small. Our water appeal fund also offers a range water solutions and pumps which you can donate towards.
When you provide a water pump or a water well, you’ll be able to personalise your plaque with a message. This could be the name of a deceased loved one, the name of the donor, or a quote. If for any reason you do not want a message on your plaque kindly confirm this on the payment section. Upon completion of the work we will of course provide you with the photos of the build.
Aqiqah/Qurban
Aqiqah
Aqiqah is a highly encouraged religious practice which is performed by Muslims when a child is born. Alongside celebrating new life It is a means of expressing gratitude to Allah Swt for the blessing he has bestowed us with. The practice in itself involves the sacrifice of an animal & the meat of which is distributed among the poor.
It is also a Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad (saw) who performed the action on the birth of his beloved Grand children Hassan Ibn Ali & Hussain Ibn Ali.
In relation the practice the number of Aqiqahs (animals for sacrifice) to be provided vary depending on the sex of the child.
For the birth of a baby boy 2 Aqiqahs (2 animals for sacrifice) are provided. However for the birth of a baby girl 1 Aqiqah ( 1 animal for sacrifice) is provided.
A point to note is there is no upper limit on the amount Aqiqahs you can provide to celebrate the birth of your child, if it is in your means to provide more then you are able to do so.
As a symbol of purification it is recommended to shave the head of new born baby, the hair should be collected, weighed & the equivalent value in silver should be given in Sadaqah.
Aqiqah & Sadqah are two different acts of worship & on such occasions should not be confused with one another.
Qurban
Qurbani means sacrifice. Every year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, sheep, cow or camel – to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God.
After the animal has been sacrificed, its meat is then distributed to those most in need.
Donating Qurbani is highly recommended according to the majority of scholars and obligatory in the Hanafi Madhab for every Muslim who is financially able to do so. There are also Qurbani rules which dictate which animals can be sacrificed, the quality of the life it has led, its health status and guidelines on how the sacrifice must be carried out.
By donating your Qurbani to Ummah Relief Aid, you will enable the community's most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in over 10 Districts to enjoy Eid, as this is the only time many families eat meat in the entire year.
Masjid construction
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said,
“Whoever constructs a masjid for Allah, Allah will construct a house for him in Paradise”.Bukhari
A masjid is at the heart of any local Muslim community. It provides a place for its worshippers to pray and contemplate as well as being a hub for educational programmes and other everyday services. The role of the masjid is to help people learn more about Islam and to nurture their moral and spiritual development.
You can gift this house of Allah (SWT) to those who have no place to congregate and pray with a simple act of Sadaqah Jariyah.
Orphan Feeding
With USD 60, you can feed an orphan for a month. Many orphans in Uganda have no access to proper food.
We need help to feed orphans in Uganda. For 2 USD, you can feed an orphan for a day. That's 60 USD a month.
Imagine yourself if you have to sleep on an empty stomach, not once but many times. This is the life of many orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. Now imagine how you'd feel when good Samaritans appeared and provided you with a good meal, even for once. You'd pray for them and their families. You'd ask God to give them more so that they can help you and others. And, Allah promised that He always answers those prayers.
Many children are hungry here. According to the UN, millions of children are on the brink of starvation. The situation is even worse for orphans.
Ramadan Iftar/Feeding to the Fasting
Iftar is the name of the meal eaten by Muslims at sunset to break their fast during Ramadan
The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break his fast with, then for him is the same reward as his (the fasting person's), without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person.” (At-Tirmidhi)
Give a Ramadan food parcel now, and allow us to deliver your charity this Ramadan.
The last year has been brought us many renewed struggles, but Allah, in His wisdom, has granted us this yearly month of mercy, an opportunity to show compassion to others while seeking Allah’s blessings.
Spread mercy, share an iftar with a vulnerable family this Ramadan.
Your charity can be the difference between a family facing another day of fasting on an empty stomach, or that family having plentiful suhoors and iftars throughout the holy month, fully able to observe the blessings of Ramadan.
You can also give hot meals – helping those facing crises to eat well even if they have nowhere to prepare a meal – or food vouchers, which helps
This Ramadan, without your mercy, people facing unimaginable hardship will go hungry. Give mercy now.
